The Terriers will unveil the 2008-09 Division I NCAA Hockey championship banner at Agganis Arena, and then go beat up a bunch of kids.

It’s Columbus Day on Monday, which means it’s a three-day weekend and you’ve got plans to party, study, work, or claim land for Spain. Among your busy schedules over the 72 hours, be sure to pencil in some quality time with your television, computer and other electronic devices because this weekend is packed with sports programming. Here’s a day-to-day schedule of the best Boston-related programming across the sporting world:

Saturday, Oct. 10:

  • BU Field Hockey @ Fairfield 1 p.m.; BU Men’s Soccer @ Hartford, 7 p.m. A pair of road conference match-ups for Terrier squads in hopes of rebounding from a loss: field hockey lost to No. 13 Duke University and men’s soccer was upset at home against the University of New Hampshire.
  • BU Men’s Ice Hockey vs. US Under-18 Team, 7 p.m. Hope you got tickets in advance for this one. If you’re among the lucky few, head over to Agganis Arena and see the championship banner rise to the rafters before the Terriers face off against high schoolers that could beat you up.
  • NY Islanders @ Boston Bruins,  7 p.m.; NESN, WBZ-FM (98.5) If pro hockey is more your thing, tune in here.

Sunday, Oct. 11

  • LA Angels at Boston, 12 p.m.; TBS, WEEI (850) The Red Sox looks to avoid elimination here, barring Friday night’s result. Hopefully Boston’s bats will have woken up by then.
  • New Jersey at Boston Celtics, 1 p.m.;  CSN, WRKO (680) That’s right, basketball season is coming up. Preseason action heats up against the Nets, who were recently bought by Russia’s richest man (look for new red and yellow uniforms).
  • BU Women’s Soccer @ Albany 2 p.m. Another important road conference game for the Terriers. Check out the Quad’s analysis here.
  • New England Patriots at Denver, 4:15 p.m Tom Brady and the Patriots hope to hand Kyle Orton and the Broncos their first loss of the season. No, that wasn’t a typo.

Monday, Oct. 12

  • Colorado @ Boston Bruins,  1 p.m. NESN, WBZ-FM (98.5); Something to ponder: If the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria hadn’t sailed the ocean blue in 1492, then there would never be a matinee game against the Avalanche.
  • LA Angels at Boston, TBA (if necessary) And by “if necessary” we mean “when the Sox realize the playoffs started and win three straight to advance.”
