I did read the article before I posted. I didn't need a summary of Professor Tricario's opinions. Choosing to title the "Is Guido the new N-Word?" is ridiculous. Obviously the author chose to do that only to draw attention to a piece of writing that capitalizes on yet another one of MTV's reality schemes.
How do you think the majority of Italian-Americans feel about a bunch of tanned idiots, bringing even more shame to America, becoming the faces of, and "taking back", the word guido?

Actually it's really not that ridiculous. Obviously the N-word is much worse, but if you read the article, Professor Tricario explains that the way Italian-Americans are taking back the word Guido is much like what happened with the N-word. Taking it back allows them to take control over what it means, as opposed to it being used as a derogatory term by others towards Italians, the way it started out.

Drawing a parallel between the word guido and the n-word is absolutely ridiculous.
