Rooms Available:

Dorm Style: mostly doubles or triples, some singles or quads

Apartment style: single or doubles

Claim to Fame: Best street on campus

Superlatives: Prettiest

The quality of rooms and brownstones on Bay State is pretty random. Some, like the theme houses, have been recently renovated, but others are falling apart and have mold growing on the walls. Also, some residences have community kitchens in their basements while most have TVs and common areas. A little trick to figure out which ones have been renovated: they have shiny gold Boston University plaques hanging over the doors.

Despite what the buildings are like inside, Bay State’s location and quaintness can not be beat. During the fall, the leaves are beautiful, in the winter the snow looks magical, and in the spring, the trees bloom. Plus, you can have your own stairway for stoopin’.

Most brownstones are not too social, with the exception of the specialty houses. They can even get a bit incesty at times- one person will pull in their friend, who will pull in two more the next year, etc. Towers and Shelton are both close by for eating options and for picking up mail and accessing computer labs.
