Fashion Flash: Project Runway Calls, Deacon in at Ungaro, Versace Auctionship

Project Runway fans will be the first to tell you that “one day you’re in, and the next day you’re out,” but if you think you can make Tim Gunn gush with grammatical praise, here is your chance.  Season Eight is holding an open casting call in New York City on Friday, May 7 from 10 AM to 4 PM.  Designers should bring garments that portray their fashion point of view.  (Note: Point of view does not mean copyright infringement.)  See Fashionista for the official flyer.

Although Linday’s out at Emmanuel Ungaro, Giles Deacon is in.  The British designer worked for Bottega Veneta and Gucci before starting his own label, GILES, in 2003, which earned him the title of “Best New Designer” at the British Fashion Awards.  As Henry Holland would say: Get your freak on, Giles Deacon.

Still can’t seem to land  an internship?  If you have an extra $50,000 lying around, you could always buy one.  After Anna Wintour auctioned off a week-long internship for $42,500 to benefit the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, Donatella Versace is following suit.  The highest bidder will receive a full semester of unpaid internship duties, two tickets to the Versace VERSUS show in Milan, backstage passes, and an autographed Versus fragrance and t-shirt.  All proceeds will go to The Art of Elysium.  As if the internship pool wasn’t competitive enough, why not drown it in money?
