This week was all about who’s who on the charts, with Adele and Lil Wayne making waves. Odd Future, Jack White and Paris Hilton also made headlines for their latest projects, while more information surrounding Amy Winehouse’s death continues to be uncovered.

Adele Breaks Billboard Record With “Someone Like You,” Set to Record New ‘Bond’ Theme

Adele made history when her song “Someone Like You” hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100. “Someone” vaulted from number nineteen to number one in its ninth week on the charts, making it the non-single with the biggest leap to number one in the history of the charts. Her performance of the track at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards boosted sales and airplay, making it her second number one song after her summer smash “Rolling in the Deep.” Adele is also rumored to be the next Bond songstress, and is reportedly in consideration to record the theme for the upcoming Bond 23, due out next year. Lil Wayne Debuts at Number One

Lil Wayne’s ninth studio album, Tha Carter IV, debuted last week at number one on the Billboard 200, selling 964,000 copies in its first week. Although just shy of a round one million, the release broke records for the biggest sales week in hip-hop, previously held by Wayne’s own Tha Carter III in 2008. Tha Carter IV is also 2011’s second-best debut, behind Lady Gaga’s Born This Way with 1.11 million copies sold.

Odd Future Gets an Adult Swim Reality Show

Last week cable channel Adult Swim confirmed that Odd Future– a group of rappers and artist from Los Angeles- will have a sketch reality show directed by Jackass veterans Dickhouse Entertainment. The show will feature man-on-the-street sketches, performance, pranks and skits by the Los Angeles rap collective. The series, entitled Loiter Squad, is scheduled to air in 2012.

Amy Winhouse’s Father: ‘She Died of Alcohol Detox’

Amy Winehouse’s father Mitch told Anderson Cooper that the late singer died of a seizure related to alcohol detoxification after trying to quit “cold-turkey.” Official toxicology reports confirmed last month that no illegal substances were found in Amy’s body at the time of her death, however they did reveal that alcohol was present in her system.

Tony Bennett Loves Lady Gaga

Tony Bennett is set to release an album of duets, Duets II, on September 20, featuring the late Amy Winehouse, Mariah Carey, Carrie Underwood and Lady Gaga, among others. Bennett told MTV News that Gaga is his “favorite” and that he had “never met anyone with more talent than that lady.” Quite a compliment coming from a crooner with a discography over seventy albums strong!

Jack White, Depeche Mode Confirmed for U2 Tribute Album

Jack White and Depeche Mode are among confirmed contributors for a twentieth anniversary tribute to U2’s 1991 album Achtung Baby. The reissue will arrive later this year in a variety of formats and bundles, including two deluxe editions, one with a hardcover book, art prints, stickers and more. Paris Hilton Sets Out To Become a House DJ

Paris Hilton is said to be shadowing Afrojack and Deadmau5 in pursuit of conquering an arena yet-untouched by her empire: house music. NME reported that the heiress hopes to find a place as the “queen of house music,” a genre typically male-dominated. Hilton was also reported to be working with super-producer David Guetta, of “Where Them Girls At” fame, however Guetta’s label representatives denied any intention to work with Hilton.
