Saturday afternoon, Boston University students showed off their ability to dodge, duck, dip, dive, and…well, dodge as the BU Chinese Student Association put on a dodgeball tournament in the SAC gym.
Six teams categorized by color competed for the top prize of a $60 gift card to Mixx Frozen Yogurt.
According to Sasha Herbert, a member of the club’s fundraising committee, there was a five-dollar entrance fee per participant, and the point of the tournament was to raise money for upcoming club events.
One such event is a Clara Chung concert at Metcalf Hall this Thursday.
Though the event was open to all BU students, the teams were comprised mainly of Chinese Student Association members.
The green team claimed victory, going undefeated against the five other opponents.
Kenny Wong, a green team member, spoke of the heroics of his team’s MVP, Nick Yung.
“Nick has the best skills of anyone on our team. He is our team. He caught a ball that bounced off his face!”
Yung was unavailable for comment.
“We’re planning on having another tournament next semester, and hopefully even more teams will compete,” said Herbert, whose blue-clad team took second place. Take heed: if you want to bury your grim memories of high school physical education under a barrage of spherical rubber ammunition, keep an eye out for this event in the spring. Just aim below the neck, please.

The Clara Chung concert will take place at Metcalf Hall at 6:30 p.m. on November 10.
