As part of the Boston Stands with Haiti relief campaign, Boston University’s Hillel House co-sponsored the lackluster “Haute for Haiti” fashion show Sunday February 28th. The designers featured were Kat Schamens, Betsey Johnson, Tom’s Shoes, and two BU student designers: Emily Gasda and Cassie Locsin. Hilary Rappaport for HMR Designs provided the jewelry. TV shows like “Project Runway” and “America’s Next Top Model” have transformed modeling and fashion design to the most sought-after careers in the fashion industry. They’ve also shown just how competitive these careers can be. The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards took place last night, and while the focus was supposed to be the music, my focus was entirely on the fashion. There were hits and misses on the red carpet, but unfortunately there were mostly misses.  However, all hope is not lost. There were still a few celebrities who dressed to [...](read more...)

If you want drama, turn off the trashy reality shows and check out what’s inside John Galliano’s head. Galliano had two very buzzed-about shows recently. His Fall 2010 Menswear line was half dapper Sherlock Holmes and half sexed-up Bruce Lee. His Dior Spring 2010 Haute Couture collection was part equestrian dominatrix and part societal English rose. Galliano [...](read more...)

Head designer and Chanel’s creative director, Karl Lagerfeld, transformed the Grand Palais into a barnyard bonanza. The childlike models emerged from a barn [...](read more...)
