This week in pop news, Lady Gaga and Whitney Houston are honored by fellow music stars, Justin Bieber’s in distress and Kelly Clarkson continues to sing empowerment.
Justin Bieber Gets Robbed (?)
Justin Bieber tweeted Tuesday night that he and his tour manager were robbed while at a Washington concert stop. The singer didn’t go into detail but mentioned a computer and camera which he says contained “personal footage.” Police, however, are not investigating the incident since a police report was not filed. The situation rings a little similar to will.i.am’s “stolen” car debacle last summer, in which he’d claimed his custom ride was jacked, let the media circus ensue, then miraculously found it within hours.
Britney Spears to Honor Whitney Houston in Grammy Special
The “I Wanna Go” singer signed on as a presenter for a one-hour CBS special next month honoring the late songstress. The Nov. 13 show will broadcast iconic performance and never-before-seen footage of Houston, who died in February.
Kelly Clarkson Releases Latest Girl Power Anthem
Clarkson dropped “Catch My Breath” online, with the track hitting digital retailers on Tuesday. The song follows her typical pop-rock formula and is the lead single for her upcoming Greatest Hits – Chapter 1, out Nov. 19. Along the lines of chart toppers “Since U Been Gone” and “Stronger,” “Catch My Breath” is an empowering anthem sure to please fans.
Lady Gaga Gets Peace Grant, Puts it Toward AIDS Foundation
Though she’s known for causing a stir with her crazy antics, Lady Gaga got a LennonOno Grant for Peace in a ceremony in Iceland on Tuesday. Yoko Ono awarded the popstar a 50,000 dollar grant, which Gaga says she will give to the Elton John AIDS Foundation to benefit orphans and disadvantaged youths in the U.S. affected by AIDS. The ceremony recognized Gaga’s charitable efforts, The Born This Way Foundation and Body Revolution 2013, which both promote self acceptance.
