Fantastic ‘World of Goo’ Game is Now Pay-What-You-Please

UPDATE: The previously down website is now back up.

World of Goo is a fantastic, creative, funny, wacky puzzle game created for the Nintendo Wii and later released for Windows, Mac, and Linux. And it celebration of its one-year anniversary, indie developer 2D Boy is pulling a Radiohead and charging you whatever you feel like paying for it.

Yes, this ridiculously fun (and once twenty dollar) game can now be yours for a penny, or for a million pennies, through October 19.

To the gaming audience, I’m sure you have heard of this title but to outsiders, do not shy away from this opportunity. Made for only $10,000 (in a world where video game budgets have grown to twenty million) by two people, this physics-based puzzle game is as casual and user-friendly as games get. But it is also engrossing and incredibly smart in its design.

Basically, if you’re even the slightest bit intrigued and pass this up, you’re an idiot.

Here is the link to the purchase page.

Here is a link to a page where ‘Phil M’ of the boisterous Metacritic user community calls you an idiot if you don’t get the game (you gotta scroll to find Phil). See, that means it’s a true statement.

In fact, Colin Scully would like to add that him and his BU counterpart actually play croquet regularly on Sundays and are great friends.
