Ode to a Dreary Day

Oh, Snow. Why have you forsaken me?

I watched you fall around campus like shining pearls falling from the sky, landing softly on the ground and trees, dazzling in the morning light. Your softness brought me comfort, surrounding me in a puffy, white cloud, telling me everything would be all right. You even made Warren Towers look welcoming (not an easy feat), like a castle in the snow.

Boston...without its glory.

Now I look around, and all has changed. It is like a Disney movie—all is bright and cheerful until the wicked witch comes. Your beautiful pearly-white jewels have turned a slushy gray, soaking through my boots and giving me wet socks (and we all know, there’s nothing worse than wet socks). The smiles that lit up the faces of every student have turned into a quiet somber as students realize that the snow is gone. All that remains are pelts of rain and sleet, washing away Boston’s snowy glory. The trees are nothing but bare branches swaying in the wind.

Oh, Boston. Why can you no longer retain snow?

Your reputation is fading, lowering students’ morale. Your landscape has turned to mud. What once was a city filled with a foot of riches is now a gigantic puddle that students must wade through on their way to classes.

Oh, please, Boston. Shine once more.
