A Gory Halloween at ImprovBoston

Girls in corsets, maniacal guys skulking in the shadows, red liquid getting spilled on everyone, and it’s all set to music – nope, it’s not a grimy frat basement Halloween party. It’s ImprovBoston’s Gorefest 8: Cirque du Slaughté, a musical comedy billed by the troupe as “completely inappropriate for all ages.”

The show tells the macabre tale of the twisted members of a 1930s circus, full of grisly murders, mishaps, and plenty of festering sores. Audience members aren’t immune from the blood spilling either, and are warned to not wear their best clothes.

Located in Central Square in Cambridge, ImprovBoston is Boston’s premier comedy theater company, offering a slew of comedy classes and shows, complete with a bar that’s open during performances. If you’ve never been, checking out the Gorefest tradition is the perfect opportunity. What better way to celebrate Halloween than with a musical self-described as “drastically full of innuendo and ooze”? Student tickets are $19, and performances are scheduled for Friday at 8pm and 10pm, Saturday at 8pm and 10pm, and Halloween Sunday at 8pm.
