The First Ever BU TweetCreep: February 13th-18th

Logo by Evan Caughey

It’s obvious by now that #BU owns at social media. We killed Boston College, Northeastern, and Emerson in the SCVNGR Beantown Challenge; we’ve got the 5th highest @Klout score of colleges in Boston; and we do funny/fake Twitter accounts better than any other college that never gets a snow day. Let’s face it: we kick ass more in social media than in hockey. Sorry, Coach Parker.

In light of this fact, here at the Quad we’ve decided to start a weekly column recapping some of the weirdest and greatest tweets of the week, creeping on BU administration, departments, and student groups. This week’s #TweetCreep is full of FitRec fights, Jersey Shore references, and more. #TweetCreep is the new Facebook stalking, BU-style:

BU = Boys Unavailable

Have they ever been to BU? Do they not realize that there’s like 12 guys on campus and three of them are straight? And of those three, one is single? And that one single guy is only interested in Asian girls? These statistics are based on four years of personal research as a single white BU female.

Answer: see previous previous @butoday tweet. #bitterBUsinglegirl

Is there a problem, officer?

Miranda Rights: not a reference to the Sex and the City character, although she did happen to be a lawyer.

Feel the Burn

So @FitRec has big balls (pun intended) to call @DeanElmore out on cell phone use at the FitRec. Personally, I’m curious to find out who the nark/Dwight Shrute-like tattletale student is who told @FitRec in the first place. If this was elementary school, I think Dean Elmore should have stolen that punk’s lunch money. But Dean Elmore’s too classy for that so here’s his zinger of a rebuttal:

BURN! Dean Elmore: 1, FitRec: -1 (1 point deducted for that nerd telling on the coolest Dean of Students ever)…This also ignited a debate among BU tweeps, including Dean Elmore’s right-hand man:

If you can’t beat ’em, Facebook friend/tweet/check-in/trek them. How else would we be able to follow arguments with @FitRec while at FitRec?

How do you say ‘BC Sucks’ in Finnish?

[blackbirdpie url=”http://twitter.com/#!/BUQuidditch/status/38258549863751680″]

What other #BU team can say their sport involves running around with a broomstick between their legs and is inspired from a fictional book about wizards? #Internationerds (But actually, that’s pretty cool. A very nerdy cool).

A Garden State Specialty…

[blackbirdpie url=”http://twitter.com/#!/BUDiningService/status/38467537435889664″]

Ummm…WHAT THE WHAT? Was @BUDiningService playing a Jersey shore drinking game when they conjured up this gem? Don’t try to make sense of this tweet – it just makes your head hurt as much as hearing Snooki’s squeals.

Mixing Kids and Convicts

[blackbirdpie url=”http://twitter.com/#!/BUBookstore/status/38706820986056704″]

Well I didn’t think “Toddlers and Tiaras” could get any more offensive, but combine it with a remake that Renee Zellweger’s sour facial expressions were in and we’ve got ourself a winner!

…and one last bizarre bonus @BUDiningService tweet before you start drunktweeting yourself:

Food and “funny” do not mix.

  1. Anyone who thinks FourSquare and SCVNGR check-ins are more important than privacy (especially in locker rooms) should not be the “voice” of students on campus. If your priorities are that off balance that you’ll risk student personal privacy for… what, your social media ego?

Do your mobile check-ins before the turnstile.
