College Fashionista: Orange Rush

This article is part of a weekly segment with College Fashionista, an online guide to the latest in college fashion. Article by Alexa Aldrich.

As another New York Fashion Week comes and goes, BU Fashionistas are left with even more anxiousness about starting a new season. While it will be a while before the fall ’11 pieces are going to be out, it is time for us Fashionistas to begin rocking the spring ’11 trends. One hot trend, shown by Marc JacobsJil Sander and Christopher Kane, is wearing highly saturated orange pieces.

Our Fashionista proves just how chic this trend is. Her deep orange top instantly pops against her black jeans and blazer. The bold color choice keeps the look from appearing too simple. Instead, the ensemble appears trendy and fresh. This top is a great example of spring’s orange trend at its best.

To bring out your bright side like our Fashionista, opt for a basic piece in a bright shade. This way, the trendy color won’t have to fight with a complicated cut or pattern. For an easy way to wear the trend, throw on an orange silk tank with your favorite jeans for a laid-back vibe. You can also try a basic shift dress in a super-saturated hue, or a flirty dress with back detailing that will ensure all eyes are on you. You can also show your orange fever through your accessories. Forever 21’s bright shoulder bag is not only on-trend with its color, but also has a trendy vintage feel. A pair of suede orange pumps can be added to a neutral outfit for a touch of intrigue. Or, try a fabulous pair of strappy heels with strips of orange that will be sure to impress. However you choose to wear the trend, make sure to keep the style simple and the color bold. This will give your look maximum impact and keep everyone in envy of how chic you are.
