College Fashionista: Let’s Hear it for the Boys

This article is part of a weekly segment with College Fashionista, an online guide to the latest in college fashion. Article by Morgan Marquis.

We’ve come to the time of year when seasons are in transition, fall collections are in stores and the sun is still blazing. So what is there for Fashionistas/os to do when it comes to getting dressed in the morning? Take a note from this stylish Fashionisto and pull inspiration from both sides of the spectrum!
Mixing a consistent Fall trend like the long-sleeve plaid shirt with summer essentials like cut-off shorts and a pair of boat shoes, this stylish stud hit the nail on the head. Add a pair of thick-frame glasses and a messenger bag and we have found the perfect look for the first week of classes.  Whereas this look reads summer on the bottom and fall up top, J.Crew has styled similar options featuring short-sleeve tops with full-length slacks (another perfect option for the beginning weeks of September).  Don’t have a short-sleeved button-up? Get rolling boys! Nothing reads relaxed yet chic like a perfectly rolled sleeve on a fitted shirt.
As you embark on a new school year, fear not the ambiguous period of fashion that is September and give your favorites from both summer and fall equal oppurtunity!

  1. Take note of the carefully unzipped trousers. This edgy look will give you a stylish “I just threw this on” appeal while also saying “I’m not afraid to take ’em off”.
