Helena Bonham Carter: Fashion Genius or Flop?

Anyone that wears miss-matched shoes to the Golden Globes must be either a bad omen to the fashion world, or an absolute fashion genius. When it comes to Helena Bonham Carter, I can do nothing but say the latter.

She’s featured at the top of the majority of worst-dressed lists. The general consensus among fashion critics is that her look can be nothing but terrible, no matter what. But I digress. I believe that Helena is indeed a fashion genius. I would never put her at the top of any best dressed list despite this fact, as she has created an entirely new fashion persona.

Seen parading around in mid-calf bloomers and other outfits equally as lacey and absurd, Helena constantly thinks outside of the box when it comes to getting dressed in the morning. Even when walking the red carpet, she somehow manages to find the most outlandish designs. In Vivienne Westwood at the Golden Globes, Helena tells People Magazine that she believes fashion is all about having fun.

As part of her uniquely cooky fashion sense, Helena and her friend, swimwear designer Samantha Sage, have created their own fashion line that they like to call “Pantaloonies.” Unlike other celebrity-owned fashion lines, instead of purchasing a ready-made pair of these so called “Pantaloonies” customers are asked to send in a pair of jeans that are laced and sequined by the owners themselves, adding a little touch of Helena to their wardrobe.

Sure, she might look insane the majority of the time. She might be, who knows? She is with Tim Burton. No matter what her mental standing might be, she has created a name for herself in the fashion industry. She is not part of the best or worst dressed list, but a fashion list all her own.
