Photos from Ireland: Abroad Spring 2010

Saturday, February 6, 2010--The Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge near Ballintoy, Co. Antrim, was originally built by fisherman to fish for salmon off the Carrick island. It used to consist of only one rope rail, but with the decline of salmon fishing in the area the bridge became a tourist attraction and a second rail was added for safety. Since the new bridge was constructed in 1970, there has only ever been one death: a small dog that jumped from the middle of the bridge.
